This walk starts in the carpark of a small hydro station, not far off the main road from El Barco de Ávila to Plasencia. Ascends up the river valley, through meadows to a beautiful lake, three times larger than Laguna Grande in Central Gredos. There is an interesting alternative offered with a cabled route up rocks by the hydro pipe, probably not for the faint-hearted.

The walk can be lengthened by walking round the lake. This involves more ascending.
