This walk takes us up the North side (to left of image) from Puerto del Pico, the main pass through Central Gredos which also has a fantastic viewpoint South and well preserved Roman road. This walk is a straightforward ascent of about 650 meters from the pass up a well marked path, well within the capabilities of most mountain/hill walkers and offers spectacular views North, East, West and South across the Valle del Tietar to the Montes de Toledo and the Guadalupe Mountains. The Gredos Ibex are often seen and we have had our picnic on the summit at the same height as soaring vultures. The ascent takes approximately 2 hours and the descent about an hour and a half. The bar/restaurant at Puerto del Pico is a welcome sight at the end of the walk. |
