This can be achieved in a day from Casa Tío Juan during the longer daylight hours taking from 9 – 11 hours, or some people prefer to do this in 2 parts with an overnight stop at Refugio Elola at Laguna Grande.  Provided there is no cloud on the summit the views from Almanzor are amazing, we hear. Unfortunately, the day we attempted this there was cloud!, but we will be getting up there again with the GPS in the spring.

The ascent of Almanzor involves some scrambling and requires adequate equipment at all times of year. Snow and ice can be encountered from October until July.
